Checklist: Short Term Rentals / Vacation Homes
Entrance & Common Areas
☐ Sweep/vacuum floors; mop hard surfaces.
☐ Dust all furniture, shelves, light fixtures, and ledges.
☐ Wipe door handles, light switches, remotes, and other high-touch surfaces.
☐ Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces until streak-free.
☐ Fluff throw pillows and straighten décor and magazines.
☐ Empty trash and recycling; replace liners.
Kitchen
☐ Wash and put away dishes; clear sink and drain.
☐ Wipe countertops, backsplashes, sink, and faucets; disinfect.
☐ Clean inside & outside of microwave, oven, refrigerator, and freezer; remove any expired items.
☐ Clean stovetop, knobs, vent hood, and appliance fronts.
☐ Clean cupboard/drawer fronts and check for spills or crumbs inside.
☐ Sweep & mop floor; polish appliance surfaces.
☐ Restock basics if provided: dish soap, trash bags, sponges.
Bedrooms
☐ Strip used bedding and replace with fresh linens (sheets, pillowcases, duvet/cover).
☐ Dust nightstands, dressers, lighting, electronics; wipe switches & remotes.
☐ Vacuum or clean under and around bed; check for lost items.
☐ Ensure closet/wardrobe tidy; remove excess hangers and clutter.
☐ Make bed professionally, smooth and tucked.
Bathrooms
☐ Clean and disinfect toilet (seat, lid, base, behind) and sink thoroughly.
☐ Scrub shower/tub area, clean glass/door or curtain, and polish fixtures.
☐ Clean mirrors; dust light fixtures & vents.
☐ Replace used towels and bath mats with fresh ones.
☐ Refill toiletries & guest amenities if provided (soap, shampoo, toilet paper).
☐ Sweep & mop floor, wipe down baseboards, check for hair or debris.
Laundry / Utility
☐ Empty lint trap and sweep behind washer/dryer.
☐ Wipe down washer & dryer surfaces; clean detergent tray.
☐ Restock laundry supplies if provided (detergent, softener, dryer sheets).
☐ Check organization and cleanliness of storage or utility area.
Final Inspection & Touch-Ups
☐ Walk through each room — look, smell, feel “guest-ready.”
☐ Remove any personal items left behind by previous guest.
☐ Ensure odors are neutral, windows/ventilation fresh.
☐ Check and restock consumables if provided: trash liners, paper towels, coffee supplies.*
☐ Confirm décor is in place, lights working, furniture aligned to reference photo (if used).
☐ Leave a small welcome touch or note (optional).
